The owner of one of the biggest businesses on the planet just became a part of Star Trek. Jeff Bezos, billionaire entrepreneur and longtime fan of the science fiction series, will appear in the new Star Trek movie directed by Justin Lin in a brief cameo appearance.
Speaking to the press about working with the famous businessman, Justin Lin was vocal about his admiration for Bezos. Lin told the press that the arrival of Bezos with a large entourage was akin to the visit from the President of the United States. Noting Bezos’ enthusiasm for the project, Lin said he had to wait all day for his scene, but nailed the performance every time he was asked to repeat it.
Although the full details of Bezos’s role in the film have been kept under wraps, it has been confirmed that he will play an alien appearing in one of the movie’s tracking shots. Since there are no publicity shots of Bezos on set, it is believed he will be under heavy makeup and unrecognizable in his role.
Bezos has always been open about his love for the science fiction show Star Trek, and is no doubt thrilled to be part of the famous franchise.
This is not the first time a billionaire businessman has been in front of the camera in a cameo role. Bill Gates appeared on the hit TV show Frasier in 2001 for a brief appearance. Mark Zuckerberg has appeared on Saturday Night Live along with his doppelgangers, and lent his voice to a Simpsons episode. Similarly, Larry Ellison has appeared in Iron Man 2 along with tech guru Elon Musk in a brief cameo role as a nod to Tony Stark’s basis on Ellison’s real life persona.
